Element (Action), Earth, Commons Gallery - Group Exhibit PNCA, Portland Oregon

Element (action) is a visual depiction of the path through the seasons we embark on annually. Chosen based on the season that felt best represented by their work, each artist was tasked with composing works specific to the season assigned. Beginning with water at the southernmost part of the gallery, just as the calendar year in the Northern Hemisphere begins with winter in January, we step into a wave of work that speaks through this element, narrated by print and sculpture. Carried along the path we are taken to the next element, air which is linked to the freshness and renewal of spring, representing breezy and light qualities. Here we are moved to look up at sculptures and prints transformed by air. As we drift through this portion we fall into fire. Here we are witness to passion, energy, and the transformative nature of this element through mixed media sculpture and painting. To close out this journey we ground ourselves within the solidity and stability of the earth's elements through ceramic sculpture, finding ourselves coming back to our origin, ready to begin again.

May 2023-June 2023

Venice Beach Teriyaki, Lightbox Photographic - Group Exhibit, Astoria Oregon

Venice Beach Teriyaki is a laser print taken on 35 mm film. I took it in 2005 during a transitional period in my life. Artist Statement My mom, her mom, her mother before her, my father’s mother and her mother all had cameras. In times when women had limited options for hobbies these cameras were their way of capturing their lives from their eyes, telling their stories without words. I too became interested in photography and have collected hundreds of rolls of film, many of them undeveloped ranging from 2005 to today. The photos in this exhibit are from three rolls I shot on the camera my paternal grandmother cherished for over 25 years. When I take images I feel like I’m honoring all the mothers in my family. They all had their favorite subject matter and mine is making images that remind me of them.

March 2023-April 2023

A Gift From My Mother, Hairrari PDX - Group Exhibit, Portland Oregon

Three ceramic stoneware shells are nestled on a small pile of sand. “A Gift From My Mother” represents transitions from Mother, Maiden, to Crone each taking different amount of time to assemble. Artist statement:   In various dreams I’ve had of my late mother she gives me gifts.  In one she hands me a large seashell in a unique shape.  I reach out to her extended hand to try and touch her but the shell is left. I created these three works inspired by those dreams they were crafted over three different time periods.  2 hours, 1 hour, and 20 minutes.  They represent mother, maiden, and crone. The crone took the most time to form, the mother the second, and the maiden last.  They are all morphs of one another.

October 2022-Present

Sitting With Grief, The Portland Grief House - Solo Exhibit, Portland Oregon

Sitting With Grief is a sculptural exhibit that explores public grieving and grief ceremonies.  8 glass teardrops represent the people we haven’t gotten to mourn. They rest on repurposed pillow cases full of sand. These pillow cases belonged to someone just like the people we have lost.   This is a permanent installation at The Portland Grief house.
